Production Capacity and Facilities Expanded at the Labour, Training, and Development Centre for the Blind
The Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social
Protection is placing a strong emphasis on protecting the rights of persons
with disabilities and creating opportunities for them to secure employment and
live independently.
As part of this commitment,
funding for manufacturing equipment and vehicles required to expand the
operations and increase employment at the Labour, Training, and Development
Centre for the Blind was allocated in this year's State Budget, with deliveries
being carried out in phases.
In the initial phase, the
following items were officially handed over on June 2, 2026:
·
An official-use vehicle for the centre (MNT
105.0 million)
·
Stage equipment for the music and cultural hall
(MNT 133.9 million)
·
Equipment for the employee cafeteria (MNT 36.2
million)
The handover event was
attended by Member of Parliament Kh. Ganhuyag alongside representatives from
the Ministry of Family, Labour, and Social Protection.
Additional investment
projects scheduled for full completion within 2026 include MNT 389.8 million
worth of machinery for the woodwork factory, facility renovation and extension
works valued at MNT 200 million, and a security and surveillance system worth MNT
35.2 million.
The centre, which aims to
improve the livelihood, provide professional training, and support the
employment of visually impaired citizens, currently has 82 employees, 64 of
whom are visually impaired. They run training programs and production lines
across various sectors, manufacturing traditional Mongolian gers, felt
products, textiles, cleaning tools, occupational safety clothing, toilet paper,
and paper and cloth bags.
There are currently 12,000
visually impaired citizens in Mongolia. Boosting the centre's manufacturing
capacity, upgrading its equipment, and improving the working and development
environment will provide blind citizens with stable jobs and better
opportunities to acquire professional skills.
