82.6 thousand Job Openings Expected in 2026: Labour Market Demand Barometer Survey Results
According to the results of the Labour Market
Demand Barometer Survey, a total of 82.6 thousand job openings are expected
nationwide in 2026. A breakdown of this labour demand by employment type shows:
-90.7% (74.9 thousand
openings) are for permanent positions.
-9.3% account for
temporary positions.
Of the total labour demand
generated this year, 53.2% will be driven by newly created positions, while the
remaining 46.8% will come from existing vacant positions.
In terms of timeline, the
vast majority of this demand—specifically 66.5 thousand openings or 80.5%—will
emerge during the first half of the year, with the remaining portion falling in
the second half.
Geographically, Ulaanbaatar
is projected to drive 80.7% of the total labour demand, accounting for 66.6
thousand positions, 52.0% of which will be newly created jobs. In contrast,
labour demand share across rural regions is expected to decline, with the
Khangai region dropping by 13.1 percentage points, the Central region by 7.8
percentage points, and the Eastern region by 0.5 percentage points.
