National Council for Children Calls for Protecting Children from Violence and Cyberbullying, Decides to Establish a New Children’s Development Centre
Ahead of International Children’s Day, the National Council
for Children, chaired by the Prime Minister of Mongolia, convened an expanded
meeting on May 26, 2026.
Opening the meeting, Prime Minister of Mongolia and Chair of
the National Council for Children, N. Uchral, highlighted a number of
pressing issues affecting children, including health and protection concerns,
cyberbullying, violence, declining birth rates, and rising maternal and child
mortality. He emphasized the need for concrete action rather than simply
expressing support, calling on all stakeholders to take meaningful steps to
address these challenges.
At the beginning of the meeting, presentations were
delivered by Minister of Education L. Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Culture,
Sports, Tourism and Youth J. Aldarjavkhlan, and State Secretary of the Ministry
of Family, Labour and Social Protection A. Davaajargal.
The National Council for Children adopted several key
decisions, including:
- Converting
the former City Hall building adjacent to Sukhbaatar Square into a
Children’s Development Centre, with renovation costs to be financed
through the “For Children” Fund.
- Opening
school and government-owned sports and arts facilities for children’s use
during the summer season.
- Launching
an early screening program for kindergarten-aged children.
- Providing
support for the renovation and improvement of the Kharaatsai Children’s
Summer Camp.
