Employees Seek Flexible Work Arrangements and Family Support from Employers
The Government of
Mongolia’s 2024–2028 Action Program emphasizes support for remote, digital, and
flexible working arrangements, along with improving the legal framework for
labour.
In line with this,
the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, together
with UNICEF Mongolia and with support from the Lorinet
Foundation, conducted a national survey on the implementation
of family-friendly workplace policies. The results were presented
today.
The survey, carried
out by IRIM Research Institute, covered approximately 1,100
employees across 50 public and private sector
organizations.
Key findings:
· More than half of the participating
organizations include family-related goals and plans in their strategies, but
actual implementation is weak.
· The survey shows that weak implementation is not
only due to limited financial resources but is also linked to budget allocation
structures, spending categories, and tax frameworks.
· Employees consistently expressed a desire for:
o
Flexible working hours,
o Respect
for personal and non-working time, and
o
Practical support for childcare and
caregiving.
During the
presentation, MCS International LLC and Bers Finance
LLC shared their good practices in implementing family-friendly
labour policies.
The survey’s
recommendations concerning national policy and the legal framework will be
shared with relevant agencies to strengthen the implementation of
family-friendly workplace policies.
Based on these
results, the Ministry will develop and approve:
· Regulations for remote, digital, and
flexible working for civil servants, and
· Guidelines and recommendations for
organizations to establish internal policies on remote and flexible work.
