Visit to the Rehabilitation Hospital under the National Centre for Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology
Following Government
Resolution No. 207 of December 17, 2025, the “Centre for Rehabilitation,
Training, and Production” was reorganized as the “National Centre for
Rehabilitation and Assistive Technology.” The Centre provides comprehensive
rehabilitation hospital services and assistive technology support to
approximately 7,000 individuals annually.
Minister of Family,
Labour and Social Protection T. Aubakir, accompanied by officials, visited the
Rehabilitation Hospital. The hospital offers specialized care with 60 beds,
while its Prosthetics and Orthopaedics Workshop produces around 700 assistive
devices across 35 categories.
During the visit,
hospital staff highlighted several key issues:
·
The building, commissioned in 2016, was not
originally designed for hospital use and does not meet standard norms. Limited
access points affect the quality-of-service delivery.
·
Starting in 2026, there is a need to introduce
psychological and art therapy treatments and to provide specialized overseas
training for staff twice a year.
·
Urgent needs include establishing an ambulance
service and an “Emergency Care Unit,” as well as creating positions for
oncology specialists and medical equipment engineers.
Officials reviewed
the Centre's 2025 performance and instructed management and relevant experts to
align the 2026 strategic plan with these priority issues, ensuring practical
and results-oriented implementation.
In recent years,
stroke has become a leading cause of death in Mongolia, with cases increasingly
affecting younger populations (an average of over 12,000 diagnoses annually).
Rehabilitation services are critical for reducing post-stroke disability and
helping patients regain independence.
