Research and Report on Enhancing the Economic Returns of the Care Economy Presented
The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social
Protection, in cooperation with the Department of Economics of the National
University of Mongolia, organized a discussion event to present and review a
report on the “Care Economy.”
The event was attended by representatives from
the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection and its affiliated
agencies, as well as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and
Development, the Mongolian Association of the Elderly, the National Centre for
Gerontology, universities, and non-governmental organizations.
As part of the research and report presentation,
the following topics were introduced and discussed:

Demographic changes and care needs;
·
Gender equality and unpaid care work;
·
Entrepreneurship, the labour market, and the
care burden, including access to care services and policy reforms;
·
Climate change and care-related risks;
·
Changes in time use and the organization of
household care.
The research and report are of significant
importance in raising awareness of the care economy beyond the social
protection and employment sectors, enhancing the economic returns of the care
economy in Mongolia, and supporting the development of evidence-based policies
and programs in the future.
