Project on Strengthening School-Based Child Protection Presents Final Results
The results of the
“Strengthening Child Protection in Partnership with Schools” project were
presented on 28th November, 2025. The project was implemented from
2023 to 2025 in 14 schools and 14 multidisciplinary teams across Ulaanbaatar’s
Khan-Uul, Bayangol, Chingeltei, Sukhbaatar, and Bayanzurkh districts, as well
as in Govi-Altai and Khovd provinces, with funding from Save the Children
Mongolia and Save the Children Hong Kong.
The project aimed to develop a school-based child protection
system by engaging teachers, school staff, parents and caregivers, students,
and multidisciplinary teams. It focused on strengthening prevention, early
detection, and coordinated response mechanisms to protect children.
As a result, the project reached 42,369 adults and
49,114
children, while the capacity of multidisciplinary teams to
deliver child protection services in cooperation with schools increased by 40.7%.
This indicates notable improvements in schools’ ability to provide child
protection services and strengthened collaboration with local communities.
According to Ts. Munkhzul, Director of the Family Policy
Department at the Ministry of Family Labour and Social Protection, “The
project’s final evaluation shows that the services provided by
multidisciplinary teams increased by 1.1 points—representing a 38.5%
improvement compared to the baseline. This demonstrates that the project’s
interventions were effective and created meaningful impact.”
Representatives from the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social
Protection, the Ministry of Education, provincial education departments of
Khovd and Govi-Altai, child and family development agencies, participating
schools, multidisciplinary teams, students, and parent councils attended the
project’s closing event.
For the 2025–2026 academic year, 900 general education schools
nationwide are serving 819,907 students.
