16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Launched
Since 1991, the
United Nations has organized the global “16 Days of Activism Against
Gender-Based Violence” campaign each year from November 25—International Day
for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—to December 10—Human Rights Day.
The campaign aims to mobilize public engagement in ending gender-based
violence.
This year’s campaign, launched under the theme “Unite
to End Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence,” calls for
collective action to address violence committed through digital and online
platforms.
Ms. L. Munkhzul, State Secretary of the Ministry of Family, Labour
and Social Protection, attended the opening ceremony, where she provided
information on sectoral policies and measures, and affirmed the Ministry’s
commitment to active cooperation with all stakeholders in the fight against
gender-based violence.
The Ministry’s efforts focus on preventing domestic violence,
raising public awareness and attitudes, providing professional social work and
services to survivors, strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation, and ensuring
timely access to essential services for children, women, and individuals
affected by violence.
In 2024, a total of 1,578 people were recorded as
victims of domestic violence, of whom 1,345 (85.2%) were women, 30 (1.9%) were
men, and 203 (12.9%) were children.
Let’s UNITE to End Gender-Based Violence.
