Victory is only part of the goal - participation itself is the greatest achievement.
The “Mongolian Abilympics–2025” National Vocational
Skills Competition for Persons with Disabilities, aimed at supporting the
skills development and employment opportunities of persons with disabilities,
has officially begun in Ulaanbaatar.
To improve the social participation and quality of life of
persons with disabilities by providing employment services tailored to their
individual needs and abilities, the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social
Protection has declared 2025 as the Year of Supporting Employment for Persons
with Disabilities across the sector.
As part of this year’s initiatives, the second national
“Mongolian Abilympics–2025” competition is being organized.
Mongolia held its first national Abilympics competition in
2022 and sent the winners to the 10th International Abilympics in 2023. The
national team achieved remarkable success, earning one bronze medal and five
special awards, placing Mongolia 9th overall among participating countries.
This year, more than 200 participants with disabilities aged
18 and above from all provinces and districts are competing in 17 skill
categories. The national winners will be trained and selected to represent
Mongolia at the 11th International Abilympics, which will take place in 2027 in
the Republic of Finland.
In his opening remarks, Minister for Family, Labour and
Social Protection T. Aubakir highlighted that this competition is not only
about contesting skills but also an excellent opportunity to learn from one another,
gain inspiration, and grow together. He emphasized that “Victory is only part
of the goal - participation itself is the greatest victory,” and wished success
to all competitors.
The Abilympics vocational skills competition plays a vital
role in recognizing the abilities, talents, and competencies of persons with
disabilities, expanding their opportunities for employment and professional
development, and improving public awareness and attitudes.
