Mongolia to Update List of Conditions for Determining Children Requiring Permanent Care
A working group has
been convened to revise and update the “List of Diseases and Injuries for Determining
Permanent Care Needs for Children with Disabilities Aged 0–16.” The
update aims to harmonize terminology with international treaties and
conventions, and to introduce the International Classification of Functioning,
Disability and Health (ICF) into services for children with disabilities.
The working group will develop two key documents:
· A list of diseases and injuries for determining
disability status in children aged 0–18; and
· A list of diseases and injuries for identifying
children who require permanent care.
O. Solongo, lecturer at the Department of Paediatrics of MNUMS and
member of the Paediatric Professional Council, and Dr. G. Soyolgerel are serving
as consultants. The ministry aims to complete and approve the revised
regulation within this year.
Beginning in 2025, the livelihood support allowance for children
requiring permanent care was increased by 6%, and
the caregiver allowance for parents or guardians caring for children with
severe disabilities was raised by 30%.
In addition, the government has launched developmental support
services for children with severe disabilities who are unable to regularly
attend school or kindergarten, and has begun providing funding to support
centres implementing this program. Starting from December this year,
children who require diapers on a continuous basis will receive a 600,000 MNT
diaper subsidy, for which preparations are currently underway.
