580 People Receive Prosthetics with the Support of the Indian Government
The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with several
government agencies including the Ministry of Health, Ministry
of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, General
Authority for the Development of Persons with Disabilities, and the India-Mongolia
Health Cooperation Center, successfully implemented the “Jaipur
Foot” project with the assistance of a grant from the
Government of India.
Key Outcomes of the
Project
•
Prosthetics Distribution:
Between September
25 and November 9, 2024, specialists from India visited
Mongolia to provide specialized care. As a result, 580 individuals,
including 284 from Ulaanbaatar and 296 from the
provinces, received a total of 650 prosthetic limbs.
•
Collaboration and Training:
Technicians and experts
from the Jaipur Foot humanitarian organization worked
alongside local specialists from the Rehabilitation Center for Children
with Disabilities, Rehabilitation, Training, and Production Center,
and regional development centers for persons with disabilities.
These professionals provided hands-on training, allowing local specialists to
gain experience in the process of fitting and adjusting prosthetics.
The collaboration between
Mongolia and India will continue, with plans to:
•
Share best practices in prosthetic care and rehabilitation.
•
Introduce modern advanced technologies in prosthetics.
•
Explore further opportunities for long-term cooperation in
this area, improving access to prosthetic services for individuals with
disabilities.
This initiative marks a
significant step in improving the quality of life for
individuals with disabilities in Mongolia, ensuring better mobility and independence.
