Improving the Internship Program at the Workplace to Increase Employment
Minister for Family,
Labour and Social Protection L. Enkh-Amgalan met with Matilda Dimovska,
Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), to
discuss the implementation of a project aimed at increasing employment through
internships.
Minister Enkh-Amgalan
highlighted a paradox in Mongolia’s labour market, where there
is both a shortage of labour and high unemployment. Together with UNDP, several
projects have been undertaken to support employment, cooperatives, vocational
education,
and employers. While some initiatives have seen positive results, others have
yet to fully achieve their intended outcomes.
In line with the
Government’s 2024-2028 action plan, discussions focused on
jointly implementing a new project designed to increase employment through internships. This
initiative aims to provide job opportunities for 7,500 individuals, including
those with vocational education, part-time workers, and those in the informal
labor sector.
The project will focus on
target groups, enhancing coordination between professional associations,
part-time job exchanges, and training programs to ensure the successful
implementation of employment opportunities through internships. This
collaboration is expected to play a key role in improving employment outcomes
and addressing the existing labor market challenges in Mongolia.
