Request to Implement a Project Supporting the Livelihoods of People with Disabilities in Collaboration with JICA
Minister for Family,
Labour and Social Protection Mr. L. Enkh-Amgalan met with Mr. Miyagi Kensuke,
Director of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Representative
Office, to discuss ongoing and future collaborations.
Since 2016, Mongolia has
partnered with JICA to promote the employment of people with disabilities.
These projects have enabled many individuals, previously isolated from society
and unable to work, to not only increase their income but also foster positive
social attitudes.
The second phase of the
project, running from 2020 to 2024, has already achieved significant outcomes,
including securing the rights of people with disabilities, enhancing their
participation in society, and improving their living and working conditions.
During the meeting,
Minister L. Enkh-Amgalan stated:
“We plan to improve the
legal framework for people with disabilities and implement reforms. We are
working on the draft amendments to the Law on the Protection of the Rights of
People with Disabilities and the Law on Accessibility and Inclusion. We are
eager to collaborate with JICA to support the livelihoods of people with
disabilities and introduce new types of social protection services in
Mongolia.”
The Ministry also
expressed its commitment to a digital transformation initiative based on big
data and proposed collaborating with JICA to advance this effort.
This partnership
underscores the shared commitment to empowering people with disabilities and
enhancing their integration into society through sustainable and innovative
approaches.
