Collaboration with The International Development Law Organization (IDLO) on the “Child Protection in the Legal Sector” Project
Family Policy Department organized a
meeting with Charles Bolland, Resident Representative of the International
Development Law Organization (IDLO), Project Coordinator Ms. B. Bayasgalan, and
Program Manager Ms. N. Odontuya to discuss and deliberated implementation of the
“Child Protection in the Legal Sector” project.
The meeting was attended by Mr. M. Tsogtbaatar,
Acting Head of the Family Policy Department, along with other ministry and
agency specialists.
The International Development Law
Organization (IDLO), with support from the Government of Canada, plans to
implement the “Child Protection in the Legal Sector” project in Mongolia.
During the collaboration, the
following activities are planned:
- Supporting the
effective implementation of the Child Protection Law through the training,
retraining, and preparation of members of the Children's Rights Legal
Council, child and family social workers, children's rights inspectors,
and specialists responsible for providing expert assessments in cases
concerning violations of children's rights and interests.
- Providing legal
assistance to children involved in legal proceedings, including child
victims, witnesses of crimes, and those impacted by violations of their
rights.
There were also regarding the
continuation of IDLO's project, "Strengthening Actions Against
Gender-Based Violence in Mongolia," funded by the Government of Canada.
Topics included:
- Updating the standards and regulations for temporary
shelters and one-stop service centers.
- Improving the effectiveness of behavioral correction
programs for perpetrators of domestic violence.
- Incorporating victim-centered approaches into legal
assistance for survivors.
This collaborative initiative is
expected to significantly enhance efforts to protect children’s rights, prevent
violence, and safeguard the interests of victims.
