Memorandum of Understanding Signed to Protect the Safety of Child Jockeys
Minister for Family, Labour and Social Protection Mr. T.
Aubakir and Secretary General of the Mongolian Horse Racing and Trainers
Association Mr. Ts. Ganbayar have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to
cooperate on ensuring the safety and protection of child jockeys during horse
races.
The memorandum outlines the commitment to prioritize the
rights, safety, health, and education of child jockeys during horse races and
training events. It emphasizes the importance of complying with relevant laws
and regulations, fulfilling obligations agreed upon through administrative
acts, and working together to uphold the best interests of children.
During the signing ceremony, Minister Mr. T. Aubakir noted,
“During the Naadam holidays, many children ride horses across the provinces and
soums. It is the responsibility of horse trainers and owners to ensure the
safety and well-being of these children,” urging all involved to safeguard
child jockeys while honoring and celebrating Mongolia’s rich cultural
heritage.
The Ministry, through its network of social workers for
child and family affairs stationed in all khoroos and soums, will collaborate
with national, provincial, and local Naadam organizing committees to implement
safety measures for child jockeys.
