"National Youth Development Council Inaugural Session: Empowering Mongolia's Youth"

The inaugural session of the National Youth Development Council is set to convene. With 28 percent of Mongolia's population comprising individuals aged 15-34, of which 44 percent reside in the capital, 51.5 percent in local areas, and 4.5 percent abroad, the youth demographic plays a significant role in Mongolia. Moreover, 44.5 percent of young people are part of the domestic labor force, with notable representation across various sectors.

Recognizing the need for targeted policies and initiatives to support young professionals and employees within each sector, there's a pressing need to strengthening collaboration, information exchange, and coordinated efforts. Hence, the National Youth Development Council, led by the Prime Minister of Mongolia, has embarked on establishing youth development councils at state and local government levels, as well as in private sector organizations. Through voluntary initiatives, these councils have been established across provinces, districts, sub-districts, committees, and state administrative institutions, totaling 436 councils with over 7,000 young participants.

The Youth Development Council aims to facilitate regional, sectoral, and organizational youth development, safeguard their rights, promote inter-sectoral cooperation, enhance youth participation in decision-making processes, and elevate their value and competitiveness.

Participating in the first session of the "YOUTH MONGOLIA" Youth Development Council, scheduled for May 17, 2024, at the "Ikh Mongol" Hall of the Parliament House, are representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Digital Development and Communications, Office of the National Youth Development Council, provincial, capital, district, and state administration youth development councils, and civil society organizations.

During the conference, discussions will be held on five sub-topics: Healthy Mongolia, Stay In Mongolia, E-Mongolia, Go Mongolia, and Youth Mongolia, focusing on youth health, employment, and enhancing e-skills. Additionally, there will be deliberations on providing support and a standardized program to guide the activities of development councils.
