Skills-Based Employment Opportunities are essential for persons with Disabilities
As
part of the “Year of Promoting Employment for persons with Disabilities” a
comprehensive regional program was held in Dundgovi province on May 15, 2025,
involving provinces in the Gobi region. Within the framework of this
initiative, training sessions were organized for local employers.
In Mongolia, only 16.6% of the 111,000 persons with disabilities are employed.
One of the main challenges in rural areas is the widespread misconception that
persons with disabilities can only work in service-related jobs, which often
results in violations of their rights and limits their opportunities.
To address this, the training
focused on increasing awareness and capacity-building among public and private
sector organizations at the local level, particularly regarding the Labour Law and the Law on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities, and their implementation.
Provisions have been made to offer up to 1% tax relief for businesses
that establish inclusive environments for the elderly, persons with
disabilities, and children—including through the development of accessible
playgrounds, summer camps, and parks.
The training also covered the
results of recent labor inspections
regarding the employment of persons with disabilities, the importance of creating accessible and inclusive workplaces,
improving access to information,
and enhancing digital skills and
cybersecurity awareness for people with disabilities.
