Short and Long-Term Training Key to Matching Labour Market Needs

A working visit was conducted to the Labour and Welfare Services Department of Bulgan province to review its operations. Local-level agencies play a crucial role in providing employment opportunities and income to citizens, and in supporting the livelihoods development, and participation of vulnerable population groups.

During the visit, challenges were observed in the timely dissemination and implementation of newly approved regulations and services.

Since the beginning of this year, more than 70 individuals have registered as jobseekers with the provincial Labour and Welfare Services Department. To effectively address both employer and jobseekers needs, it is important to collaborate with vocational education and training institutions to implement both long- and short –term training programs that align with labour market demand.

Additionally, emphasis was placed on enhancing the operations of job centers in rural areas, cooperating with private employment agencies, and delivering innovative, efficient, and citizen-friendly labour and social welfare services.

In 2024, the provincial Human Development and Social Welfare Agency provided support to over 46000 individuals through the Social Welfare Fund, allocating a total of MNT 40.2 billion. Additionally, around 1700 citizens benefited from programs funded by the Employment Promotion Fund, with expenditures amounting to MNT 2,6 billion.

Officials from the sector highlighted that challenges such as limited technological infrastructure and a shortage of vehicles continue to affect the timely and smooth provision of services. Due to geographical constraints and limited access to online platforms in certain areas, it was also noted that some essential services must still be delivered in paper-based formats to ensure accessibility for all citizens.
