Promoting Employment as the Best Welfare
The
Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection is dedicated to equal
opportunities for all citizens, including people with disabilities. As part of
its ingoing efforts, Mr. Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren, Minister for Family, Labour
and Social Protection, recently met with representatives from non-governmental
organizations and businesses that are working to protect and promote the rights
of people with disabilities. The meeting focused on addressing challenges on
addressing employment related challenges and identifying practical, sustainable
solutions.
Minister
Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren emphasized the importance of consistent engagement,
highlighting his monthly meetings with people with disabilities. These meetings
go beyond merely acknowledging their challenges, they focus on identifying and
implementing actionable solutions.
“Welfare
and cash handouts offer temporary relief, but the best form of welfare is to
support employment,” stated the Minister.
In
line with international best practices and to enhance accessibility, a
dedicated Job Centers for individuals with disabilities has been established in
Ulaanbaatar. One branch of this center operates within the General Agency for
the Development of People with Disabilities, ensuring specialized support and
services.
Looking
ahead, the Ministry plans to expand these services across the country. Regional
development centers will soon include Job Centers offering standardized
services to improve access to employment opportunities for people with
disabilities.
During
recent consultations, citizens provided valuable recommendations concerning the
government’s 14 mega projects for 2024-2028. Key suggestions included:

Expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities within these
projects,
•
Reducing bureaucratic obstacles in government institutions,
•
Ensuring the public availability of employment and salary data for people with
disabilities via a unified platform,
•
Providing policy and financial support for prosthetics and orthotics
manufacturers.
The
Ministry reaffirms its commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work
environment, enabling individuals with disabilities to fully realize their
potential. The leadership of relevant agencies and ministries has been
instructed to act on these suggestions ahead of the next meeting.
