Assessment of Sectoral Gender Policy Implementation and Next Steps Defined
The Gender Sector Council of the
Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection convened for a meeting to assess the progress of gender equality
initiatives and define the next stages of policy development.
In 2024, The Gender Sector Council,
which oversees the implementation of sectoral gender policies, was restricted
to include 21 members. The updated council comprises the Ministry department
directors, agency heads, and representatives of the non-governmental
organizations (NGO).
During today’s meeting, the council reviewed the
implementation of the gender equality policy, discussed upcoming actions, and
deliberated on the draft plan for the next six years. The Ministry of Family,
Labour and Social Protection is responsible for 27 of the 53 actions outlined
in the second goal of the Gender Equality Strategy Action Plan, which was
approved by the National Gender Commission.
The State Secretary of the Ministry of Family,
Labour and Social Protection and Chairperson of the Gender Sector Council
issued the following directives:
• Prepare a comprehensive report on the implementation
of sectoral gender policies, including monitoring, evaluation, and assessments.
•
Develop the next phase of sectoral policy based on the findings and
recommendations of the assessment.
• Conduct a mid-term evaluation of the strategy and
action plan in 2026 to ensure that action items are incorporated into the 2025
plan, and engage with gender specialists.
• At the next meeting, present the United Nations’
recommendations regarding the implementation of the Convention on the
Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women for the Ministry of
Family, Labour and Social Protection and other Gender Equality Centers.
•
Integrate the goals and activities outlined in the approved gender equality
strategies and policies into the 2025 plan and ensure their implementation.
