Healthy, Safe, and Decent Employment is Crucial
The Ministry of Family,
Labour and Social Protection, in collaboration with sectoral researchers and
experts, has drafted the “Technical Regulation on
Protecting Employee Health from Dust Exposure in the Workplace.” This
regulation was approved by the Government on December 25, 2024.
In Mongolia, 51.4% of
diagnosed occupational diseases are related to pneumoconiosis, which includes
lung diseases caused by dust exposure.
Currently, 1,333
individuals are receiving disability pensions due to pneumoconiosis. On
average, these individuals live 9.5 years less than the national life
expectancy.
As of now, 31.9% of workplaces evaluated for occupational conditions are considered hazardous due to dust exposure.
The newly approved “Technical Regulation on Protecting Employee Health from Dust Exposure in
the Workplace” will take effect on July 1, 2025.
