Unified Child Protection Information System to Be Developed
A meeting was held to
discuss the development of a “Unified Child Protection
Information System” as part of efforts to enhance child protection in Mongolia.
Following the
implementation of the Child Protection Law, N. Bayarmaa, Director of the Family
Policy Department at the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection, and
N. Munkhsanchir, Director of the Department of Digital Development and Big
Data, delivered a presentation on the “Legal Framework for Child
Protection and Big Data in the Digital Age.”
The Child Protection Law,
enacted in 2016, mandates the establishment of a “Unified
Information Database” to collect data on children in vulnerable situations, those calling the
emergency hotline (108), and children engaged in risky activities like horse
racing. This information is consolidated into a national database. However,
improvements are still needed to effectively utilize this data across the
country.
For example, if a child in
the Tonkhil sum of Gobi-Altai province is identified as being in a high-risk
situation, case management methods will be used to define the steps for
protecting the child. Case management involves collecting and organizing
information to build a unified database that supports child protection.
