Draft National Policy Document on Labour Inspection Introduced
The amended Labour Law
includes new regulations aimed at ensuring decent work principles at the
national level. These changes expand the scope of labor relations, establishing
a legal environment where the basic rights of employers, employees, and
citizens in the labor force are secured, fostering balanced and fair labor
relationships.
The updated Labour Law
aligns the duties of labor inspectors with the 81st Convention of the
International Labour Organization (ILO) on “Labour
Inspection in Industry and Commerce,” bringing these responsibilities in line
with international standards. However, to effectively achieve and enforce
decent and balanced labor relations, it is essential to clarify the current structure, systems,
and responsibilities of labor inspection, update inspection methods, and
enhance the knowledge and skills of inspectors.
To address these needs,
the draft “Labour Inspection Policy Document” has been developed
in line with the ILO’s Labour Inspection Convention. This document outlines the
fundamental principles, structure, organization, functions, and legal powers of
labor inspection. It has been introduced to national labor inspection officers, scholars, and
representatives of employer and employee organizations.
By defining the national
labor inspection policy, this document plays a crucial role in protecting
workers’ lives and health in the workplace, ensuring their
right to work, preventing industrial accidents, acute poisoning, and occupational
diseases, and improving the enforcement of sectoral legislation.
