New ADB-Funded Center in Ulaanbaatar to Provide Comprehensive Employment Support for People with Disabilities

This initiative reflects a significant step toward improving the employment opportunities for people with disabilities in Ulaanbaatar. With the financing from the Asian Development Bank, the newly established center is a dedicated space that will host comprehensive activities aimed at supporting employment for people with disabilities. The inclusion of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the planning process ensures that the services will be tailored to the specific needs of the disabled community.

The detailed action plan prepared by the NGOs emphasizes a holistic approach, highlighting the importance of providing five key types of rehabilitation services: psychological, professional, medical, educational, and domestic. By addressing these areas, the center aims to create a supportive environment that enhances the employability of individuals with various types of disabilities, including visual, hearing, intellectual, and mobility impairments, as well as paralysis.

The Minister of Family, Labor, and Social Protection, L. Enkh-Amgalan, has shown strong support for this initiative by instructing the preparation of a list of necessary equipment and a proposal to further enhance the existing employment support program. This endorsement from the ministry is crucial for the successful implementation and sustainability of the services provided by the center.

The involvement of multiple stakeholders, including NGOs and the government, is a positive indicator that the center will be a comprehensive and inclusive facility, effectively addressing the needs of people with disabilities and supporting their integration into the workforce.
