Mongolia Participates in International Vanguard Summit on Homelessness

The International Vanguard Summit, focusing on homelessness, was held in Helsinki, Finland, bringing together representatives from 15 countries, city governments, political leaders, and researchers. The Director of the Social Welfare Policy Implementation Department of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Mongolia, Ms. B. Undral, led the Mongolian delegation at the summit.

Participants at the summit presented their policies and programs on homelessness, exchanged opinions, and agreed on the implementation of medium-term policies and programs to address the issue.

Key Activities and Discussions:

  • First Day: Delegates were introduced to Finland's successful policy of "Providing housing in priority countries," a model of international best practices. They also explored the work of non-governmental organizations offering housing services for homeless groups through campuses and day services.
  • Second Day: During a panel discussion, Director Ms. B. Undral shared insights on homelessness in Mongolia, outlining the nation's need and plans for policy initiatives to eradicate homelessness. Director Ms. B. Undral emphasized the importance of preventive measures in these efforts.
  • Third Day: The summit featured presentations from other countries involved in the Vanguard program. Ms. U. Erdenechimeg, CEO and Founder of Cognos International LLC, participated in a panel discussion on "Advancing on the Global Evidence Base on How to End Homelessness," highlighting the critical role of data-driven strategies.

At this year's Vanguard Summit, Mongolia reaffirmed its commitment to influence policy and implement preventive programs aimed at eliminating homelessness in the future.
