"Exploring Leading Practices in Underground Mining: Mongolian Delegation Visits Arch Coal Lee South Mine"

A delegation led by Mr. S. Zulpkhar, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection of Mongolia, embarked on a working visit to the United States at the invitation of the US Department of Labor.

During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to observe the operations of the "Arch Coal Lee South mine," an underground coal mine located in West Virginia.

The mine places a strong emphasis on occupational safety and hygiene, resulting in a remarkable track record of accident prevention. In fact, it ranks among the top five mines in terms of the longest number of accident-free days. The team at the mine graciously shared their experiences and provided insights into the intricacies of mining operations at depths of up to 1500 meters.

Mr. Zulpkhar underscored the invaluable learning opportunity this visit presented for the Mongolian representatives. They gleaned valuable insights into best practices that prioritize the safety and well-being of workers.

Moreover, the mine has implemented a program for the families of workers. Regular events are organized to familiarize families with the working conditions, contributing significantly to a safer work environment with reduced risk of accidents.
