H.E. Mr Vedat Bilgin, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Turkey is on an official visit to Mongolia at the invitation of H.E. Mrs A.Ariunzaya, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, a Member of the Government of Mongolia.

Today, H.E. Mrs A.Ariunzaya, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, received a delegation led by H.E. Mr Vedat Bilgin, the Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Republic of Turkey.


Since 2016, Mongolia and the Republic of Turkey have paid special attention to the establishment of a social protection agreement to ensure equal social rights for the citizens of the two countries. As a result, the "Agreement between Mongolia and the Republic of Turkey on Social Protection" was established in 2018, and this agreement came into effect on March 1, 2021. Correspondingly, it became possible to determine the pension by calculating the total period of pension insurance contributions paid by the citizens of both countries in Mongolia and the Republic of Turkey. In this way, the citizens of both countries can receive temporary disability, maternity, and funeral benefits. At the beginning of the meeting, Minister A.Ariunzaya expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to provide social security for the citizens of both countries.


Currently, about six thousand citizens of Mongolia live and work in the Republic of Turkey.


In the field of labour and social protection, for example, both sides emphasised the possibility of extensive cooperation by exchanging experience in the direction of increasing employment and reducing unemployment, ensuring labour safety, and strengthening the social security system.


Also, on this occasion, Minister A. Ariunzaya expressed his desire to cooperate with the Turkish health sector and medical experts to treat and operate on children with cerebral palsy and seizures that cannot be treated in Mongolia.


In recent years, tourism has been developing rapidly in Turkey. Therefore, Minister Vedat Bilgin emphasised that it is possible to share the experience of this industry with Mongolia and cooperate in the training of tourism experts and personnel.


The Government of Mongolia proposed the goal of transitioning from welfare to work. The Republic of Turkey is working effectively to reduce poverty and increase employment. Therefore, the two ministers unanimously expressed that cooperation in the field of labour and social security should be brought to a new level and the next goals should be defined.
