There will be a unified database of projects implemented in the field of labour and social protection
The UNDP-funded project “Supporting Employment
Reform through Budget Planning in Mongolia in Accordance with the Sustainable
Development Goals” launched the “Integrated Database for Information Exchange
and Development Projects Funded by Development Partners”.
This will enable the exchange of information, transparency and openness on
projects and programs implemented in the field of labour and social protection
funded by the Development Partner Organization. It will also be possible to see
where each province, district, and population group is implementing
projects and programs to improve coordination.
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Mrs. A.Ariunzaya, Minister of Labour and Social Protection, H.E. Ms. Axelle Nicaise,
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Mongolia/Head
of Mission and the UNDP Resident Representative Elaine Konkievich.
Minister A.Ariunzaya said, “Many projects and
programs are being implemented in our sector with funding from international
organizations. Many projects have been implemented in the past. However, there
is no information archive that summarizes the direction, purpose, and amount of
funding of the project.
The goals, content, activities, and scope of the
ongoing projects may overlap. There are issues such as implementing programs
that target only certain segments of the population, leaving some sections out,
and duplicating many projects in some provinces.
To address this, a system of databases of
projects and programs implemented and being implemented with concessional loans
and grants from international donations is being developed.
By looking at project information in a “single
container”, you can find out where and what overlaps there are, improve
communication, compare the mistakes and correct them. This will make the
project more effective. In addition, government agencies and project
implementers have a stable electronic archive for long-term use, which saves
money and time.
On the other hand, the database will be open
to the public. This means that the financing, operation and implementation of
the project will be “glass”. In turn, public scrutiny will improve. ”
During the event, information was provided on
projects being implemented in the field of labour and social protection funded
by the Development Partner Organization.
