H.E. Ms. A. Ariunzaya, Minister for Labour and Social Protection met with H.E. Mr. Pavit Ramachandran, Country Director at the Asian Development Bank Mongolia Resident Mission

Mr. Pavit Ramachandran, Country Director at the Asian Development Bank Mongolia Resident Mission. During the meeting, they exchanged views on cooperation in the field of labour and social protection, as well as the implementation and progress of major projects and programs implemented in recent years, and future follow ups.

The meeting was attended by Asif Chima, Director, Urban and Social Sectors Division, HQ,  J. Altantuya, Senior Social Development Officer, MNRM, E. Itgel, Activist, Senior Social Sector Officer, MNRM, E. Ulziisuren, Actuary Consultant, Hans Van, Principal Public Specialist, HQ and others presented their work on mitigating the effects of the economic crisis, ensuring fiscal stability, improving social protection programs, strengthening information and technology systems, making welfare services more accessible, reducing gender-based violence, and supporting vulnerable groups.

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided the first technical assistance to Mongolia in 1994 and a first loan in 2001. Over the past decade, it has successfully cooperated with key sectors of the economy in the form of investment projects, budget support, grants and technical assistance.

For the labour and social protection sector, the organization is implementing 2 loan projects and 1 technical assistance project which are to ensure the participation of persons with disabilities, improve access, strengthen the capacity of the social welfare system, and provide shock-resistant social protection.
