The Ministry to Sign Memorandum of Understanding with Seoul Foundation of Women and Family

State Secretary of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection A. Davaajargal met representatives of the Korea Social Policy Institute (KSPI) and the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family, an agency affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government.

The Korean delegation included the Chair and members of the Korea Social Policy Institute (KSPI), as well as Kim Min-jeong, Director of the Gender Equality Cooperation Division of the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family.

The Korea Social Policy Institute (KSPI) is a non-profit research organization dedicated to studying and developing social policies in the Republic of Korea. Established in 1989, the Institute conducts research and develops policy recommendations across a wide range of areas, including social protection, employment, social insurance, population and demographic changes, housing policy for vulnerable groups, and social inequality.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on opportunities for future cooperation.

Mongolia is currently facing a number of demographic and social challenges, including rising divorce rates, declining birth rates, population ageing, and the emergence of new forms of gender-based violence facilitated by technology. State Secretary A. Davaajargal expressed Mongolia’s interest in working together to study good practices and develop evidence-based policy research aimed at supporting population growth, preserving the country’s demographic sustainability, supporting herder communities in remote areas, and reducing gender-based violence.

Dr. Ban Soon-il, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Korea Social Policy Institute, expressed his readiness to share the Institute’s research findings, expertise, and experience with Mongolian counterparts.

The meeting also resulted in an agreement to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Seoul Foundation of Women and Family. The Foundation is an agency affiliated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government that works to promote gender equality, women’s advancement, family well-being, and childcare. It also provides comprehensive support and services for victims of gender-based violence, sexual violence, and technology-facilitated sexual violence.

During the meeting, awards were also presented to Dr. Kim Jong-gu and Dr. Park Won-chul by order of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Protection.

Dr. Kim Jong-gu was recognized for his contribution to advancing social policy research in the Republic of Korea and strengthening academic cooperation with Mongolia’s social protection sector. Dr. Park Won-chul was recognized for his active participation in joint academic and practical conferences between Mongolia and the Republic of Korea, as well as his research and publications on social protection policy, family and social welfare, and employment.

Both scholars were awarded the “Outstanding Social Protection Worker” badge in recognition of their contributions.
