Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection Declares 2026 the “Year of Employment Promotion”
The Ministry of
Family, Labour and Social Protection (MFLSP) has designated 2026 as the “Year
of Employment Promotion,” with a focus on expanding job opportunities for
youth, women, and older adults. Key policy priorities include:
· Addressing critical workplace challenges, such
as the gender pay gap, while working to establish formal recognition and
economic value for child-rearing labour.
· Fixing the widening gap between labour supply
and demand. With the workforce skills mismatch currently reaching 53%, new
policy adjustments will be made to ensure continuous and stable employment
opportunities for young people.
· Implementing supportive measures to provide
elderly citizens with decent job placements and reliable income generation.
“Currently, Mongolia
has a workforce of over 1.46 million, with an unemployment rate of 5.6%. It is
essential to reduce unemployment and support citizens’ incomes effectively,”
stated Prime Minister G. Zandanshatar during his participation in the National
Forum on “Work in a Changing Environment.” He emphasized that advances in
artificial intelligence and other technologies are transforming the nature of
work, requiring new skills and lifelong learning, and that these trends must be
reflected in national employment policies and objectives.
