Deputy Minister Meets with Asian Development Bank Director for Human and Social Development

Solongoo met Ms. Sophia Shakila, Director for Human and Social Development at
the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
At the outset of the meeting, the deputy minister expressed
her appreciation, highlighting that the Asian Development Bank has consistently
been a reliable and trusted partner for Mongolia.
Currently, two major projects in the social protection
sector particularly those targeting persons with disabilities and older persons
are being implemented with ADB support.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in
July 2025 to implement the project titled “Promoting Green and Digital Economy
among Women Entrepreneurs in Mongolia,” which will be carried out during
2026–2030.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on expanding
future cooperation and on opportunities to collaborate in accelerating policy
measures aimed at reforming the sector’s legal and regulatory framework. It was
noted that, in order to ensure the implementation of the Law on Child
Protection, 833 new social worker positions have been created, with social
workers now working at every soum and khoroo level.
The Mongolian side also expressed its interest in broadening cooperation in areas such as capacity building for workers and promoting employment opportunities for persons with disabilities
