Food and Nutrition Assistance to Be Provided to Households Most in Need
By Order No. A/186
of the Minister of Family, Labour and Social Protection dated September 26,
2025, the Regulation on the Provision of Food and Nutrition Assistance
has been revised and approved.
As the information
on households and individuals in need of social welfare support was updated in
September 2025, the composition of households eligible for food and nutrition
assistance has changed. Going forward, the service will be targeted at
households with the most urgent needs.
The eligibility
threshold score for households to receive food and nutrition assistance has
been set at 180 points. In addition, the monthly assistance amount has been
increased: support per child has been raised from MNT 8,000 to MNT 12,000,
while support per adult household member has increased from MNT 16,000 to MNT
20,000.
The revised
regulation includes the following provisions:
· Food and nutrition assistance will not be
provided to household members who are of working age, able to work, but
unemployed.
· Assistance will be provided to working-age
household members who are employed, with the aim of encouraging employment.
· Households that have received food and nutrition
assistance for many years or whose living standards have improved will no
longer be covered by this service; instead, they will be included in employment
support measures.
· Household development plans will be developed
for poor households, with targeted support to work directly with families,
ensure children’s enrollment in schools and kindergartens, and facilitate access
to health and education programs.
· Firewood and coal subsidies will be provided to
single elderly persons without dependents or caregivers from households in
urgent need of social welfare support.
· Children suffering from severe malnutrition and
homeless individuals living in unstable conditions will be identified and
included in the service.
· In line with the policy of transitioning from
welfare to employment, members of households in urgent need of social welfare
support will be included in employment promotion and support measures.
The revised
regulation came into effect on December 1, 2025.
