“UB-ABILITY EXPO 2025” Held to Promote Employment of Persons with Disabilities
It has been 33 years
since the UN General Assembly declared December 3 as the International Day of
Persons with Disabilities at its 37th session on October 4, 1992. This year,
the day is being observed worldwide under the theme “Fostering
Disability-Inclusive Societies for Advancing Social Progress.”
According to the 2024
data from the National Statistics Office, Mongolia has to 107,904 persons with
disabilities 32% (34,354) in Ulaanbaatar and 68% (73,550) in rural areas. Of
the 89,594 persons of working age, only 18% (16,175) are employed, including
4,526 in the capital and 11,649 in the provinces.
To strengthen
employment support for persons with disabilities, introduce their products and
services to the public, connect jobseekers with employers, highlight effective
government and private sector initiatives, and provide employment and social
protection services, the event “UB-ABILITY
EXPO 2025” was organized in honour of the International Day of
Persons with Disabilities.
More than 300
participants—including NGOs working on disability rights, persons with
disabilities, government organizations, and private enterprises—took part in
the event.
Key activities included:
·
Presenting state policies and programs aimed at
promoting employment for persons with disabilities
·
Providing job-matching services, consultations,
and essential information
·
Showcasing and supporting the sale of products
made by persons with disabilities
·
Delivering government services directly to
citizens.
