Parents Express Strong Satisfaction with Services at the Support Centre for Children with Disabilities
Ms. L. Munkhzul, State Secretary of the Ministry of Family Labour
and Social Protection, together with relevant officials, visited the operations
of the “Eeltei Yertönts” NGO’s Support Centre for Children with Disabilities.
According to 2024 data, Mongolia has a total of 14,609
children with disabilities. Many of these children are of school or
kindergarten age but are unable to access regular education services due to
their disabilities, while others who attend school still require
rehabilitation, specialized care, and support services.
To address these needs, the Ministry of Family Labour and
Social Protection, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the
Ministry of Health, approved the Regulation on Support Centres for Assisting
the Education of Persons with Disabilities in February of this year.
Currently, 12 support centres for children with disabilities
are operating nationwide, providing educational, health, and developmental
support services. As a result, parents of children with disabilities are now
able to engage in employment, while their children receive multidisciplinary
professional support that contributes to their overall development.
The centre visited currently serves 75 children with
disabilities. Parent representatives expressed their high satisfaction with the
centre's services.
The State Secretary emphasized the importance of promptly
organizing the selection process for institutions that will operate in 2026,
ensuring timely funding, and jointly implementing capacity-building training
and discussions.
