Decision Made to Restructure the Population, Labour and Social Protection Training and Research Institute into a Scientific Research Organization

Cabinet meeting held on May 21, 2025, the Government of Mongolia approved the decision to restructure the Labour and Social Protection Training, Evaluation, and Research Institute—under the Ministry of Family and Labour Social Protection—into the Population, Labour and Social Protection Training and Research Institute, designating it as a scientific research organization.

The newly restructured institute will carry out research, analysis, and both short- and long-term forecasting in areas such as employment, labour relations, the labour market, occupational safety and health, wages, and human resource development. It will also be responsible for enhancing the knowledge and professional skills of sector specialists through training programs.

As part of this transformation, some functions will be transferred in accordance with legal procedures.

The institute will develop a unified information database based on big data in the sector, ensure the proper use of information, and conduct policy analysis based on big data related to families, the population, labour, and social protection. It will also provide policy recommendations, conduct foundational and applied research in digitalization and information technology, and align labour market supply and demand forecasting—based on big data—with the national higher and vocational education systems. Furthermore, the institute will develop a national labour market big data platform.
