Mongolia and the Republic of Austria to establish a Social security agreement
The third round of expert-level negotiations on the Agreement between
Mongolia and the Republic of Austria on Social Security
commenced today, March 11, 2025, in Ulaanbaatar.
In line with the Government of Mongolia’s policy to protect
the social security rights of its citizens residing abroad, Mongolia has proposed the
establishment of a Social Security Agreement
with Austria. Two rounds of negotiations were previously held in Ulaanbaatar and Vienna in 2024, during which a draft agreement was developed.
During this round, both states aim to finalize
the draft agreement along with the administrative arrangement
for its implementation.
Once concluded, the agreement will enable Mongolian and Austrian citizens to participate in each
other's social insurance systems on an equal basis. It will
also allow for the aggregation of insurance
periods contributed to both countries, ensuring eligibility for
pensions and strengthening social security guarantees.
