The project “Supporting Employment Reform through Budget Planning Aligned
with Sustainable Development Goals in Mongolia,” implemented in collaboration
with the European Union, the United Nations Development Programme, the Food and
Agriculture Organization, and the International Labour Organization, has
successfully concluded.
This project was supported
by a direct contribution of 50.8 million euros from the European Union and
technical assistance funding of 7.4 million euros, which was initiated in
October 2020. The project has made a significant contribution to reforming
budget, financial management, and employment systems. By aligning budget
planning with development policies, it has helped promote sustainable
development, decent employment, and inclusive economic growth.
During the closing
ceremony, the Ambassador of the European Union to Mongolia, Ina Marčiulionytė, emphasized that the project represents a major achievement in the
35-year diplomatic history between the European Union and Mongolia. She expressed
hope that the valuable experiences and best practices accumulated within the
project regarding capacity-building, knowledge sharing, and supporting budget
and financial management would continue to be disseminated.
L. Munkhzul, State
Secretary of the Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Protection (MFLSP),
highly praised the results and contributions of the project. She emphasized
that the Government of Mongolia, especially the Ministry of Family, Labour and
Social Protection, will continue to improve policies and systems that support
employment, enhance inclusiveness, and implement results-based budgeting in
order to contribute to the sustainable development of society and the economy.
