Participation in the Asia-Pacific Ministerial Meeting on the Implementation of “Beijing+30”
The “Beijing+30”
Asia-Pacific Regional Ministerial Meeting was held from November
19-21, 2024, in Bangkok, Thailand. The event marked the 30th
anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, adopted
in 1995, which focuses on advancing women’s rights and achieving gender equality.
The
meeting was organized to discuss the progress made in implementing the Beijing
Platform in the Asia-Pacific region, and to agree on future actions
for furthering gender equality and women’s empowerment in
the region. The event brought together representatives from various government
departments, UN bodies, and non-governmental organizations.
Delegation from Mongolia:
The delegation from Mongolia,
led by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, L.
Munkhtushig, included officials from the Ministry of Family,
Labour and Social Protection, the National Gender Commission,
and representatives from civil society organizations.
Key Highlights of the
Event:

State Secretary L. Munkhtushig actively participated in the main
discussions and also served as Vice-Chairperson for the event.
•
M. Tsogtbaatar, the Head of the Family and Population
Development Division at the Ministry of Family, Labour and
Social Protection, presented Mongolia’s governmental policies,
actions taken so far, and the country’s future goals in achieving gender equality and women’s
empowerment. He also participated in the side event titled “Empowering
Women by Changing Discriminatory Social Norms: Activities Toward ‘Beijing+30’” as
a panelist.
This
high-level meeting provided an opportunity for sharing experiences, assessing
progress, and identifying next steps to strengthen the
implementation of the Beijing Platform, with a particular focus on
eliminating discrimination and ensuring equal
opportunities for women in all sectors.
