Discussion Held on Procedures for Implementing the Amended Child Protection Law

The amended Law on Child Protection, approved by the Parliament on January 17, 2024, will come into effect on September 1, 2024.

This revised law outlines the types and forms of child protection services, establishes guidelines for case management, and introduces professional management standards for child protection services. It also provides a legal framework for employing family social workers in each district and committee.

As part of the preparatory efforts for the law’s implementation, the Ministry organized a public awareness campaign from February to May this year, targeting civil servants, citizens, and the public across all ministries, provinces, the capital, and districts.

Currently, regulations for the law's implementation are being developed.

Today, several key draft procedures were presented to child and family workers, university academics, and representatives of non-governmental organizations. These include:

  • The draft procedure for situation assessment,
  • The draft procedure for assessing the safety of educational institutions and religious sites,
  • The draft procedure for issuing and revoking the qualifications and rights to provide social work services for child and family social workers.

These discussions mark a significant step towards ensuring the successful implementation of the Child Protection Law and strengthening the support system for children and families across the country.
