PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT QUALITY ASSURANCE LABORATORY COMES INTO USE
Since 2017, the Government of Mongolia has been implementing the "Capacity Strengthening Project for Labor Safety Management in the Construction Industry" in cooperation with the Japanese International Cooperation Organization /JICA/. Within the framework of the project, the "Laboratory for quality assurance of protective equipment" has been established and put into operation in cooperation with the General Department of Professional Inspection and ILO /JICA/.
At the opening ceremony of the laboratory, H.E. Mr. S.Zulpkhar, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Chairman of the National Committee for Occupational Safety and Health, Yoshimura Tokuji, Deputy Head of the Japan International Cooperation Organization /JICA/ Project Representative Office in Mongolia, L.Togsbayar, First Deputy Head of the General Department of Professional Inspection, M.Davaabat, Head of Labour Safety and Health Center, H.Ganbaatar, Executive director of Mongolian Employers' Union, H.Buyanjargal, General secretary of Mongolian Trade Union Federation and other officials participated.
The laboratory is equipped with protective helmets, special work shoes, and devices with a multi-functional system that can perform various tests, and has created a test environment for quality assurance of fall protection equipment.
The International Labor Organization celebrates April 28 every year as the day of "Commemoration of Workers Killed in Industrial Accidents". Since 2001, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, the National Committee for Occupational Safety and Health, the Occupational Safety and Health Center, the General Department of Professional Inspection, the General Department of Social Insurance, the Mongolian Federation of Trade Unions, and the United Confederation of Mongolian Employers have been working together since 2001. April of every year has been declared as the "Occupational Safety and Hygiene Month Campaign" and campaign activities have been conducted throughout the country to promote the laws and regulations on occupational health and safety, and to prevent industrial accidents and occupational diseases. As part of the campaign of the month, the said laboratory is put into operation.
